Unanue Scholarships

The Joseph A. Unanue Latino Institute offers the following undergraduate and graduate scholarship opportunities for eligible students. We encourage students to submit their application for consideration.

Joseph and Carmen Ana Unanue MPA Student Scholarship

  • Deadline: March 1
  • Amount: Variable,
  • Eligibility: The Unanue scholarships for MPA students are made possible through a generous endowment from Joseph and Carmen Ana Unanue.

    Each year the department awards approximately $10,000 to MPA students and all MPA students are eligible to apply. Typical awards range from $1,000 to $3,000 per year.

  • Application Process: The Unanue scholarships are based on a combination of academic merit and a student essay that demonstrates “an appreciation of Hispanic tradition, culture, history and/or community and civic life.” The essay should be no more than 1,000 words in length and emailed to the director of the MPA program by March 1st of each academic year.

Joseph and Carmen Ana Unanue Student Scholarship Fund, The

  • Deadline: September 8
  • Amount: Variable,

    Students my reapply annually for consideration.

  • Eligibility:
    1. Available to all students irrespective of ancestry who demonstrate an appreciation of Hispanic tradition, culture, history and/or community life
    2. Incoming freshmen or are currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at Seton Hall University
    3. Must have FAFSA on file with Enrollment Services and demonstrate financial need
    4. Demonstrate academic competency by maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.0
    5. US citizen or permanent resident.

Lider Award

  • Deadline: May 15
  • Amount: $3000,
  • Eligibility:
    • Available to all students irrespective of ancestry who demonstrate an appreciation of Hispanic tradition, culture, history and/or community life
    • Must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at Seton Hall University
    • Must be a sophomore or above to apply (undergraduate only)
    • Must have a minimum of 3.3 cumulative GPA
